Antique compartmented shelf made of French pine dating from around 1900. Originally used in a cutlery workshop in Thiers, Puy-de-Dôme, a French town historically known for its cutlery industry. Made of solid pine, this shelf features a simple and primitive construction as well as a beautiful warm and aged patina. Each compartment retains its original numbered brass plate, reflecting its past use in the workshop. With its nine open compartments and shallow depth, it is a particularly versatile piece. It would be perfect as a shoe cabinet or storage unit for the entrance, but could also serve as a small library, display case, shop layout, or general storage furniture. The wood shows beautiful signs of age and previous use, giving the piece a lot of authentic character. Period: around 1900. Origin: Thiers, France. Material: solid pine, brass.
