An extraordinary and rare piece of furniture, created by one of the undisputed masters of global Haute Couture: Pierre Balmain (1914–1982). Founder in 1945 of the legendary Parisian fashion house, Balmain was a major figure in fashion and costume during the second half of the 20th century. Between the 1960s and 1980s, alongside other great names in French fashion such as Christian Dior and Pierre Cardin, Balmain became interested in the world of interior decoration. Unlike his peers, he did not create mass production lines, preferring to sign very few exceptional pieces while emphasising absolute craftsmanship, noble materials, and impeccable finishes. This extremely limited production makes his furniture rare, difficult to find on the antiques market, and highly sought after by international collectors. The original logo of the Pierre Balmain house is clearly visible on the side of the piece. Birch wood with refined geometric marquetry in brass and brass knobs. The piece is in excellent original condition, both outside and inside the compartments, with every detail beautifully preserved.
