This Alky model chair was created by Giancarlo Piretti for the famous publishing house Castelli. This Italian designer studied at the Instituto Statale d'Arte before starting his career at Anonima Castelli. For more than two decades, he created different ranges of furniture, including his Plia chair, Alky armchair and Dorsal, which have become iconic pieces of design. His designs are both functional and aesthetic and have been widely recognized throughout the design world. “Alky” is typical of 70s design, it is part of the Space Age universe. This movement was born in the 1960s in response to the space race and is characterized by the use of organic shapes and new materials to create a utopian futuristic aesthetic. He has influenced many fields, from fashion to architecture and popular culture. This fireside chair is designed with a solid aluminum frame, covered with polyurethane foam. It rests on a metal base which ensures good stability. Its covering is in khaki vegan fabric. In very good condition, completely reupholstered in our workshop.
