Magnificent dish or bowl in Puisaye stoneware with a beautiful slightly pyritic glaze in soft colours of ecru, caramel, and chocolate, typical materials and colours of the 1970s. Its design is simple and elegant, and it could also serve as a fruit bowl. A beautiful artisanal work of turning and glazing by the ceramist Jean-Pierre Prud’homme. It is not signed, but on one hand, I recognise Jean-Pierre Prud’homme's glazing work with certainty, and on the other hand, it is part of a very large service by Prud’homme that I have collected (part of which is already for sale here) and several pieces of which are signed. He did not sign all pieces of the same service. Jean-Pierre Prud’homme founded a handmade pottery workshop with his wife in 1971 in Monnaie, working with clay from Nièvre (Puisaye stoneware). This workshop still exists today (atelier Au grès du vent), run by his son Benoît, who took over in the 1990s-2000s and also created very beautiful ceramics. This dish dates from the 1970s and is in perfect condition, with no cracks, chips, or even a scratch; it has probably never been used. It measures 27.5 cm in diameter and 5.5 cm in height.
