Handcrafted with care in Amsterdam, this striking table lamp is made from an antique French faience vase attributed to Géo Martel of Desvres, dating from the early 20th century (circa 1900–1920). A rare example of the French Delft revival style, the vase bears the signature "LF/5/1", a well-known homage to 17th-century Dutch pottery such as De Metaale Pot under Lambertus van Eenhoorn. This richly detailed ceramic base is painted in the characteristic "cashmere" palette — featuring vibrant tones of iron red, cobalt blue, jade green, and ochre on a delicately glazed ivory background. The decorative motifs include stylised peonies and prunus flowers, architecture reminiscent of pagodas, as well as meandering garden landscapes — classic elements of chinoiserie rendered with precision and vitality. Broad leafy cartouches and baroque-inspired framing add layered visual interest, bestowing the piece with a truly intercultural elegance. The lamp is topped with a cylindrical forest green satin shade, echoing the verdant tones of the ceramic and providing a dramatic modern contrast. As always, the lamp has been created without damaging the original vase. The stated height includes the shade.
