Complete and extremely rare salon by Tage Poulsen, consisting of two lounge chairs, a matching ottoman, and the large coffee table from the same series, made in Denmark. Architect, furniture designer, and Danish artist, Tage Poulsen is known for his unique and powerful creations in solid wood, now associated with Scandinavian brutalism. Complete sets by this designer have become almost impossible to find. All pieces are made of solid oak and share the same powerful and architectural language: finely crafted, yet deliberately archaic. The chairs follow a clear additive principle – armrests made of horizontal boards, structure of vertical boards, backrest of vertical slats. Each element remains visible. The seat and back cushions, placed freely, are made of thick reddish-brown leather, generously filled with foam for excellent comfort; the warm leather contrasts beautifully with the light oak. The cushion of the ottoman is also removable: a footrest or extra seat. The coffee table is entirely assembled without screws: the crosspieces fit together by rotation into milled notches and lock precisely. The top opens in the centre on brass hinges and reveals a natural linen canvas serving as a magazine holder and storage. Table cleaned and revised, new brass hinges. Condition: very good vintage condition – stable oak structures with minimal signs of use, leather cushions with a beautiful natural patina, original linen canvas. Dimensions of the chair: approx. 87 × 85 × 75 cm; ottoman: approx. 68 × 73 × 40 cm; coffee table: approx. 105 × 105 × 40 cm (L × D × H).
