This table comes from the prestigious Lacoste estate, along with half a dozen pieces of furniture that I am selling at the same time. This couple of intellectuals furnished their home at La Boutique Danois (Avenue de Friedland, on the Champs Elysées) in the 1960s with exceptional Scandinavian furniture in which they lived their entire lives. More details on my blog: Lacoste estate. Stunning oval dining table in solid teak with an extension by designer Borge Mogensen (model 311). It bears the stamp MADE IN DENMARK under the top, as well as the superb drakkar logo (stationed in front of a fortified tower, symbolising an aesthetic conquest initiated by Scandinavian furniture makers in the 1950s). We are also dealing with exceptional furniture, straight from the Danish Boutique on the Champs, crafted to perfection by Scandinavian artisans. It rests on four tapered legs that attach to the rectangular stretcher with two butterflies each, ensuring unwavering stability for the table. The top features sumptuous solid teak, adorned with dreamlike and clearly defined grains. It separates in the middle, and the two half-moons easily slide apart to make way for the original extension, which is also stamped with the drakkar. Over the past decades, it has hosted many meals in the cosy Lacoste apartment, and one of the children remembers the fascination the butterflies on the legs held for him! There are some usual signs of wear, particularly a few marks on the extension that was stored elsewhere and may have rubbed during movement, but nothing truly significant (see photos). It remains stable, solid, and in excellent overall condition. Ready to host new meals. L: 125 to 180 cm (with extension). W: 115 cm. H: 74 cm. My prices are firm, thank you. Delivery possible in Île-de-France for 40 euros.
