Elegant, refined, and full of character, these two antique soup plates bear the hallmarks of Eastern earthenware excellence. Produced in Lunéville by the Keller & Guérin factory, in ironware, with an underglaze printed decoration, they feature the rare and poetic "Rouen Clover" decoration, a stylized blend of Norman tradition and fin-de-siècle floral inspiration. The decoration consists of a delicate golden yellow and navy blue geometric frieze, framing stylized clovers in the center and on the rim. The slightly cracked ivory background, typical of antique ironware, enhances the nuances of color. The edges are finely scalloped, adding an additional touch of elegance. On the reverse, a magnificent stamp decorated with clovers, with the words K & G LUNÉVILLE – ROUEN TRÈFLE, attests to careful production from the end of the 19th century (circa 1890–1900). The intaglio marking further reinforces this dating. These plates are perfect for a vintage guest table, a charming wall decoration or a sophisticated collection of French earthenware. Diameter 24 cm, height 2.5 cm Good condition for their age, micro scratches from use, patina of time, one plate has a chip under the bottom, the other a chip on the edge on the top. Note that the decorations are slightly different, lighter on one and that there are traces of imperfections in the decoration (blue spots). Please look at all the many photos which attest to their condition. Sold as a pair - very difficult to reunite in this condition, especially with such a decorative stamp.
