Art Deco bar cabinet in solid oak and coromandel, Europe, 1930.

Art Deco bar cabinet in solid oak and coromandel, Europe, 1930 Rare Dutch Arts & Crafts buffet with early influences from the Amsterdam School, circa 1910, made of solid oak with original iron hardware. The piece is situated exactly at that moment of transition in Dutch design where restraint begins to evolve into expression. The overall construction remains solid and functional, but the details introduce a more sculptural, almost architectural language. The slightly arched backrest is the defining element, crowned with a hand-forged iron ornament that immediately draws the eye. It seems intentional, almost symbolic, giving the piece a strong identity without becoming excessive. Below, the composition remains calm and well-balanced. Two drawers above panel doors, all framed with subtle chamfers and clean lines. The hardware is particularly striking: dark, forged elements that contrast beautifully with the warm oak and reinforce the Arts & Crafts character. Vertical accents along the sides and slightly recessed panels add depth without complicating the form. Inside, the layout is practical, with a raised shelf along the back that adds a functional layer while echoing the architectural rhythm of the upper part. This combination of utility and careful proportions is what makes the piece thoughtful rather than merely decorative. The oak has developed a rich and even patina over time, with visible grain and natural variations on the surfaces. The finish is soft and authentic, not excessively restored, which suits the character of the piece well. A beautiful example of early 20th-century Dutch furniture, bridging the sobriety of the Hague School and the more expressive language of the Amsterdam School. Dimensions Width: 144 cm Height: 137 cm
