Mart Stam "S43" Chair for Thonet
€400
Mart Stam’s S43 for Thonet. Designed in the 20s, in production from 1931. Stam built his first cantilever chair in 1926 out of gas pipes. It was one of the first chairs without back legs. The S43 followed a few years later, with a tubular steel frame and a seat and backrest made of moulded beech plywood. Overall in good used condition. Visible signs of use on the plywood seat, including several small dark indentations and surface marks. The indentations are also noticeable to the touch.
