Crossbow commode from the Louis XV period in noble wood marquetry, 18th century.

Louis XV Arbalète commode in noble wood marquetry from the 18th century, rare quality of cabinetmaking for this magnificent piece dating from the mid-18th century. It opens at the front with three large, richly decorated drawers; the locks are original. The handles and keyholes in gilded bronze are characterised by relief decorations depicting female figures in oval frames with ribboned bows. The top and sides are also marqueted, and the whole rests on a curved and shaped crossbar. The four legs are cabriole with animalistic terminations (raptor feet grasping eggs). This piece of furniture invites admiration for the meticulous craftsmanship involved in its creation.
