This lovely English wardrobe made of oak and oak veneer, likely dating from the early 20th century, around 1900-1920, has particularly interesting proportions. With a width of 83 cm, a depth of 40 cm, and a height of 147 cm, it offers genuine storage space while remaining compact. The English have a certain reputation for practical, well-proportioned, and beautifully constructed furniture. This small wardrobe is a very good example of that. Its façade is structured by beautiful solid oak uprights, while the panels are made of oak veneer. The panelled doors, vertical lines, and wooden handles give it that understated and warm appearance characteristic of early 20th-century English furniture. Inside, it combines a hanging section and storage shelves. In other words, despite its small size, it does not pretend to be a wardrobe. It will easily find its place in a bedroom, a child's room, an entrance hall, or even an apartment where every square metre counts. A truly good idea for small spaces is probably what I like most about it; with its 83 cm width and only about 40 cm depth, it allows for the charm and presence of an antique piece without sacrificing half the room. Another appreciable advantage: it is relatively light for an antique wardrobe. Its uprights are made of solid oak, but its construction also using oak veneer significantly reduces its weight. It is therefore easier to handle and, above all, much simpler to assemble in an apartment or on upper floors than a large wardrobe entirely made of solid oak. Those who have ever tried to get a Normandy wardrobe through a staircase will immediately understand the appeal of this. The wardrobe is in very good overall condition and perfectly sound. No signs of wood-boring insect activity have been observed. The doors and storage are functional. As always with an antique piece, some discreet signs of age may be present and contribute to its charm. It is ready to live in your home: no major restoration work is needed, just find it a place.
