Elegant Swedish Modernist pendant lamp from the 1930s or 1940s, featuring a generously proportioned frosted glass shade in a classic urn shape. The glass is decorated with a precisely hand-cut grid pattern of vertical and horizontal lines, with small rectangular clear-cut accents at each intersection — a beautifully restrained yet refined decorative technique that is very much in the tradition of Sweden’s celebrated glass industry. When illuminated, the frosted glass diffuses the light into a soft, warm glow, while the cut lines remain visible as delicate graphic details across the surface. Viewed from below, the open base reveals a graceful inner rim, adding an unexpected elegance to the design. The shade is suspended from a polished chrome rod and dome ceiling cup, both in good condition. The scalloped chrome collar where the rod meets the shade shows some light oxidation and wear consistent with age, but the glass itself is in immaculate condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.A timeless and sophisticated piece that would work beautifully in both period and contemporary interiors.
