History: the sarreguemines earthenware factory, located in moselle, is an institution of french craftsmanship. Founded in 1790, it experienced rapid growth thanks to technical and artistic innovations. From the 19th century, it became one of the main earthenware production centers in europe. In the 20th century, international competition affected the activity. The design of tableware was stopped in 1979. Despite several changes of ownership and restructuring, the earthenware factories closed definitively in 2007.
