Magnificent large stoneware pitcher decorated with a hollowed-out foliage motif with magnificent enameling in shades of gray, brown on the edges and several very beautiful shades of green. For me, there is no room for doubt: given the colors and the decoration, this is a pitcher created by the ceramist Albert Thiry. Albert Thiry sometimes signed underneath in hollow or with felt-tip pen, and sometimes his pieces were not signed. So perhaps the felt-tip pen has faded over time or the signature is on the side of the handle. Indeed, we can see a hollow mark that could be "thiry". And this pitcher is surely one of the most beautiful he produced, with its many patterns and these wonderful greens. Albert Thiry settled in Vallauris in 1943, he first worked in different workshops, including that of Charles Voltz, before creating with his wife Pyot Gavaudan their own workshop in the early 60s, still in Vallauris. This pitcher dates from the 60s or 70s, it is in perfect condition, the 4 marks underneath (stoneware left without enamel) are, for me, original marks, the marks of the cooking support. It measures 19 cm in height, 20 cm in width from the handle to the spout, approximately 14 cm in diameter and weighs very heavy, a little more than 1.5 kg. Given the value of the object, in case of shipping, please favor Colissimo.
