Elegant and highly sought-after Italian set of arched mirror and half-moon console, designed and produced by Vivai del Sud, one of the most renowned Italian design workshops specialising in natural fibres in the 1950s-1960s. The set is made of natural rattan and bamboo, combining traditional craftsmanship techniques with a clearly mid-century formal language. Both pieces have been designed as a decorative unit, maintaining perfectly balanced proportions, materials, and visual rhythms. The arched mirror features a curved bamboo structure with an architecturally inspired upper arch. The front frame is enhanced by a geometric lattice of split rattan cane, arranged diagonally around the glass, creating a graphic effect characteristic of Vivai del Sud's production. It retains its original glass, perfectly integrated into the structure. The half-moon console, designed to be placed against a wall, has an elegant and lightweight semi-circular silhouette. It consists of a bamboo supporting structure with curved legs, a lower reinforcing frame, and a half-moon shaped top, all executed with great artisanal precision. The set retains its original honey-coloured finish, with a warm and even patina that highlights the natural texture of the material. It is in excellent vintage condition, with firm and stable structures and only slight marks from time, consistent with its age. Complete sets of mirror and console from Vivai del Sud are particularly sought after in the international market and are becoming increasingly rare, especially when kept together and in original condition. An ideal piece for Mid-Century Modern, Mediterranean, French Riviera, sophisticated bohemian, or coastal interiors, perfect for entrances, living rooms, or display spaces.
