Vintage spiral design street lamp – Tom Dixon
A vintage spiral floor lamp by British designer Tom Dixon, a spectacular light sculpture that will bring a strong and graphic presence to a living room, entrance, or office. A long ribbon of steel covered in gold leaf wraps around itself in a spiral that widens and then narrows to a pointed tip, resembling a flame or an extended spring. The whole piece rests on a wide white lacquered dome base, which houses a halogen spotlight directed upwards: the light rises inside the spiral and caresses the metal, creating beautiful plays of shadow and reflections on the wall. The transformer is fixed under the base. A self-taught designer, Tom Dixon made his debut in London in the early 1980s by welding scrap steel to create radical furniture. The Spiral floor lamp, designed in the late 1980s in steel and gold leaf, is considered by the designer himself to be his first true lamp. His pieces from this period, handmade, are now highly sought after by design collectors. Used condition. The golden patina of the spiral is worn in places, and the base shows signs of oxidation and small chips. The electrical installation is original. Sold as is.
