Minister's desk with drawers – Napoleonic III period – Solid walnut

Minister's desk with double side cabinets in solid walnut, late 19th century, Napoleon III style. Robust construction with two side cabinets, each equipped with four drawers. The handles, sculpted directly from the mass in the shape of double-scroll volutes and shell motifs, are the main ornamental detail. The rectangular top with rounded corners is highlighted by a peripheral moulding. The whole rests on recessed moulded bases. The back and sides are fully treated with panelling featuring protruding mouldings, demonstrating attention to detail on all faces. The original patina, warm brown, has been cleaned and waxed; no touch-ups reported. Sold without a key. Height under the frieze: 63 cm. Dimensions: H. 77 cm × W. 168 cm × D. 91 cm.
