Square dining table Model 81C by Alvar Aalto in red linoleum, Artek, 1970s.

A square dining table, model 81C, designed by Finnish architect and designer Alvar Aalto and produced by Artek in the 1970s. The table features a red linoleum top with a solid birch edge, supported by Aalto's characteristic L-shaped construction in bent birch. Developed by Aalto in the 1930s, this pioneering technique allowed solid wood to be bent into elegant and functional shapes, becoming one of the defining features of his furniture designs. The clean silhouette and warm natural wood beautifully contrast with the red surface, giving this practical and classic design a distinctive presence. Its square proportions make it suitable as a small dining table, kitchen table, or versatile table for a studio or workspace. The table is stamped underneath the top.
