Dutch design dining table by Peter Overdijk for Frozen Fountain from 1995, produced in a very small edition with an exceptionally thin, subtly twisted mahogany top. Peter Overdijk designed this dining table in 1995 for Galerie Frozen Fountain in Amsterdam. This distinctive twisted version features a reddish-brown mahogany top with solid edging, refined mitred joints and tapered legs. An original metal torsion profile underneath reinforces the exceptionally thin top and helps prevent the wood from warping and deforming. This creates the impression that the top subtly twists or turns, while the construction itself provides additional stability. Founded in Amsterdam in 1992, Frozen Fountain played an important role in Dutch design during the 1990s and worked with both established and lesser-known designers on small editions and experimental pieces. The first owner purchased this table directly from Frozen Fountain in 1995. The table comes with an original photograph bearing the handwritten note “Peter Overdijk ’95 – Frozen Fountain”. The condition of the table is very good, with minimal signs of use and no damage. The Cassina chairs shown are not included in the price.
