Alvar Aalto Model 81C Square Dining Table in Red Linoleum, Artek, 1970s

A square dining table, model 81C, designed by Finnish architect and designer Alvar Aalto and produced by Artek during the 1970s. The table features a red linoleum tabletop with a solid birch edge, supported by Aalto's characteristic L-leg construction in bent birch. Developed by Aalto in the 1930s, this pioneering technique allowed solid wood to be bent into elegant, functional forms, becoming one of the defining features of his furniture designs. The restrained silhouette and warm natural wood contrast beautifully with the red surface, giving this practical design classic a distinctive presence. Its square proportions make it suitable as a small dining table, a kitchen table or a versatile table for a studio or workspace. The table is stamped underneath the table top.
