The 'Bridge' decanter is an example of Polish utility glass from the 1950s, produced by the Hortensja factory. Created during the mid-century modern fascination, it features a transparent, colourless body with a shiny surface and moderate thickness. The whole is decorated with hand-painted, strong red stripes encircling the stopper, neck, shoulder, and base. The most recognisable detail is the central decoration – four graphically simplified playing cards (diamond, club, heart, spade) in contrasting black and red. The use of black contours and uniform colour surfaces emphasises the lightness and playful character of the vessel. The glass stopper repeats the red motif. The product is in good collector's condition, with no significant chips, losses, or restorations. The 1950s 'Bridge' form speaks to the era's enthusiasm – evenings spent at the table, social games, and modern design meant to provide not only function but also a sense of fun. The card motif takes on a playful role, referencing the popular bridge gatherings of the time.
