This antique Japanese chest of drawers was made between the late Taishō period and the early Shōwa period, a time marked by the culmination of functional, understated, and durable furniture. It is primarily made of paulownia wood, valued for its lightness and stability, with the use of Japanese cedar for certain structural parts. The front features three large drawers, designed for everyday domestic use.
