Folk art Bridal chest, anno 1885

A pine wedding chest from 1885. The illustrations are traditional with images of flowers. The top was originally also painted but because these chests were often used to sit on, the paintings have largely worn away. The chest was part of a dowry package and would have been in the clean room of the house with the dowry textiles. Treated against woodworm.
