What an original piece of ceramics, probably a jam pot, but it could also serve as a sugar bowl or simply complement a ceramics collection. The shape is very elegant, a perfect sphere resting on a foot, and when you lift the lid, you can also place it on its "foot-handle." The glazing is also very successful, a speckled milky grey adorned with marks of orange-brown and blue. This ceramic bears the inscription "St Maur" incised underneath the foot. The signature "St Maur" immediately evokes the workshop of Evelyne Porret and Michel Pastore, two renowned ceramists who met in Geneva in 1970 and then worked together in a workshop made available to them in exchange for minor work at the Abbey of Saint Maur in Saumurois (Le Thoureil) and at La Borne, before settling permanently in Egypt in 1977, where they created a ceramics school (El Fayoum). I invite you to discover their story; it is fascinating. According to my research and the opinions I have received from "specialists, " this is a work by the Porret Pastore couple (though one opinion diverges, suggesting it is probably a ceramic created in this Saint Maur workshop by students of the Porret-Pastore couple). For my part, I believe it is their work (the colours in particular correspond perfectly to other ceramics known to be their work). Moreover, the turning work, the final shape, and the fitting are of such precision that they reinforce my opinion. I will therefore leave you to form your own opinion. This ceramic is in perfect condition, with no cracks, chips, or even a scratch. It measures 17.5 cm in height and 13 cm in maximum diameter.
