Pair of mahogany gondola chairs – Empire style – 20th century, restored

Elegant pair of mahogany gondola chairs with shell-shaped backs, inspired by the Empire style, dating from the 20th century (probably 1930–1960). Their sober and refined silhouette is enhanced by a gondola back with delicately carved shell decoration, adding character and timelessness to the whole. These chairs have undergone renovation: the seat covers have been redone in a green and ecru chevron-patterned upholstery fabric, highlighted by a decorative black trim that elegantly structures the line, offering firm and durable comfort. The wood has been treated, cleaned, and revived with a colourless patina while retaining traces of time, such as a few marks of glue and filler, and veneer jumps, which testify to their history and guarantee authenticity. They are perfectly stable. Rare character pieces, these chairs will fit perfectly around a table, as extra seating, or in a decor that blends the old and the contemporary.
