Exceptional extendable dining table in oak, made in the 1960s by Skovmand & Andersen in Denmark. The square top with generously rounded corners appears almost round – a shape full of tension between the square and the circle, which is rarely seen among Danish tables. Skovmand & Andersen was one of the most renowned Danish furniture workshops of the post-war era and produced models by Kai Kristiansen and Arne Hovmand-Olsen; thanks to the importer Moreddi, its tables also gained wide distribution in the United States. Most known examples of this model are made of teak – the oak version is significantly rarer. The dialogue between the tabletop and the base is particularly successful: the round, tapered legs connect to the apron of the tabletop with a refined detail, forming a calm and fluid line. A solid wood edge frames the tabletop and gives it a beautiful softened profile. With its two 50 cm extensions, the table reaches approximately 215 cm and comfortably accommodates eight to ten people. The table has been fully restored. The oak features a lively and clear grain and a warm honey hue. Condition: very good vintage condition – fully restored, stable, and perfectly functional. A rare Danish table for discerning interiors. Dimensions: approximately 115 × 115 × 73.5 cm (width × depth × height) With two extensions of 50 cm each – extended length approximately 165 or 215 cm.
