Hic dining table - Willy Van der Meeren - 1967

In 1967, Willy Van Der Meeren designed the HBK bank building (1967-1969) in Antwerp. He also designed the furniture. For the cafeteria, he created a robust version of the T1 table, featuring an asymmetrical leg that echoes the shape of the tabletop. This table was produced exclusively for the HBK project. The free-form tabletop is made of white FORMICA laminate. The central base is made of black lacquered metal, adorned with bent iron. The Belgian architect and designer Willy Van Der Meeren designed the HBK building in Antwerp in 1967, as well as the furniture intended for it. Only 34 units were specially constructed for HBK Bank, 17 units with a white formica tabletop for the cafeteria and 17 units with a fruitwood tabletop for the offices. Here is a model with a diamond-shaped tabletop made of white formica. The asymmetrical central base is made of black lacquered steel, and the legs are finished in bent metal on top. This authentic table is in very good vintage condition, showing normal signs of wear for its age.
