Fruit bowl, woven ceramic basket, Vallauris

Very pretty and large fruit basket made of woven clay coils, with a beautiful burgundy glaze (the photos on a white background are those where the color is closest to reality). We can easily imagine the time it must take to create this object! A very pretty and surely very long artisanal work which probably dates from the 40s or 50s when this color was very fashionable. At the time, it had also been adopted by large manufacturers such as vercéram, longchamp, st clément... This basket in the style of woven ceramics by jérôme massier in vallauris is not signed, but it is the work of a professional and very talented ceramist, he even pushed the detail to the point of doubling the braiding on two parts to create handles. It is in good general condition, no cracks, I cleaned it carefully in every nook and cranny, very shiny enamel, but it has some signs that testify to its age: slight wear on the bottom (the enamel is just a little less shiny there) and three chips on the enamel at the edge of the basket, visible but which in no way spoil its beauty. This basket measures 33 cm in diameter, for a maximum height of 8.5 cm.
