Large MARINE type painting from the end of the 19th century representing a three-masted sailing ship sailing on the open sea; oil painting on strong cardboard signed lower left RA BORSTEL and named lower right TEMPLE WEST. Format 43x 62cm in wooden frame covered with gilded plaster (48 X 66cm). Back in studded cardboard with wall mounting ring. Damaged frame with missing parts of gilded plaster. Painting with surface tears in places (not pierced), missing paint on the right edge (see photos). To be restored The 3-masted ship TEMPLE WEST was based in SYDNEY (Australia). It is the work of Reginald Arthur BORSTEL (1877 / 1922), Australian sailor and painter active from 1890 to 1917, who immortalized a series of sailing ships on commission from their captains. Uncommon. Packaged weight 4 kg.
