Louis Fortuney: The boat, pastel

Louis fortuney 1878 - 1950 la barque, 1912 pastel; glued directly onto a 352 X 511 mm cardboard, the pastel; 356 X 513 mm per box signed and dated lower left: fortuney /1912 dimensions with frame: 46 X 63.5 cm. Described by his contemporaries as a “fiery colorist”, louis fortuney is a renowned pastelist and painter who depicts scenes of parisian life and landscapes of the south. He received an order for decorative panels for the town hall and the lezignan hospital in 1913. The artist worked on guides de france for which he created numerous illustrations.
