An exceptional, highly decorative two-piece set of authentic French Art Populaire (folk art) dating from circa 1935. Hand-carved from warm, richly grained fruitwood, this set beautifully captures the angular, geometric aesthetic of the peak European Art Deco movement. Remarkably, these two pieces were discovered and acquired from entirely separate sources within France. Now reunited, they offer a spectacular, historically cohesive duo for high-end shelf styling or a tabletop display. • The Vase (Signed "CLAUDE"): Features striking, multi-faceted geometric fluting highlighted by dark, scorched-wood (pyrogravure) accent lines. The front is adorned with a stylized metalwork insect motif meticulously created with brass wire and structural studs. The base features a textured stippled triangle and is hand-carved with the artisan signature "CLAUDE" underneath. The Pitcher (Signed "PICARD"): Meticulously carved with diamond-shaped facets forming a unique, rounded structural body. The lower panels feature beautiful, dark metal floral rosettes secured with central brass-domed rivets. It features a seamlessly integrated carved wooden handle and is signed with the cursive script "Picard" on the base. Built as an all-wood decorative piece.
