Very large vintage scandinavian rectangular coffee table in rio rosewood with 2 hidden extension cords, by illum wikkelsa for koefoeds m-belfabrik, denmark, 1960s. The table consists of a very large tray, an atypical triangular base and two extension cords, each of 37cm, which fit inside the ends of the table. Illum wikkels is a brilliant 20th century danish designer who contributed greatly to the development of danish design during the 1950s and 1960s. The design of its pieces combines aesthetics, simplicity and functionality. A beautiful design with its clean lines and organic curves, with exceptional quality of wood and manufacture. We particularly like the solid "extra" rio rosewood edge and the beautiful vein and colour of the wood. The table has been completely cleaned and with a new oiled finish the wood has regained all its original shine and colours.
