This piece is part of the emblematic production of the artist, a major figure in Alsatian art ceramics of the early 20th century. The vertical geometric decoration, rhythmically enhanced by stylised patterns in petrol blue, ivory, and touches of orange, is characteristic of the Art Deco vocabulary developed by Léon Elchinger in the 1920s.
