Imposing monumental vase in multi-layer artistic glass created in the Polivict workshop in Buzau, Romania, during the last decades of the 20th century. This piece is part of the tradition of reinterpreting artistic glass techniques developed by the École de Nancy and popularised by the great master of Art Nouveau, Émile Gallé. The Polivict workshop, active in Romania in the 20th century and linked to the work of master glassmaker Victor Pantene, specialised in the recovery of the complex technique of multi-layer cameo glass, a handcrafted process that involves layering different colours of glass and carving them to reveal the decorative pattern. The vase features an elegant landscape decoration inspired by the forests of the Vosges, where the stylised silhouettes of trees emerge in relief against the translucent background of the glass. The motif was created using the multi-layer cameo glass technique, carefully carving the outer layers to reveal the lighter inner layer that forms the figures of the landscape. The contrast between the dark outer layer and the bright background creates a highly suggestive pictorial effect. When light passes through the interior of the vase, the landscape seems to acquire an almost atmospheric dimension, highlighting the organic shapes of the trees and evoking the poetic landscapes of Art Nouveau. One of the most distinctive aspects is its remarkable reaction to light, as the glass exhibits visible fluorescence under certain lighting conditions, transforming the warm tone of the background into an intense luminous green that further accentuates the depth of the glass layers. With a height of 72 cm, this piece reaches a truly monumental size in artistic glass. Vases made using the cameo technique are generally found in smaller sizes, making this format a genuine sculptural element.
