Overview: Elegant oval Biedermeier side table from South Germany, circa 1820. Prominent use of walnut veneer with book-matched and star-shaped marquetry on the top and walnut burl on the frame. Design: Slim oval top with a narrow moulded edge sitting over a slim apron. Central shallow drawer with interior fittings and a small brass knob at the centre front. Structure: Constructed on four curved square legs in solid walnut, giving a refined, restrained silhouette typical of early Biedermeier. Built over a softwood substrate with veneered surfaces. Dimensions: H 80 cm × W 58.8 cm × D 41.8 cm. Materials: Walnut veneer and walnut burl, brass hardware and a softwood core. Use: Ideal as an occasional or bedside table, or as a decorative accent in a classical or period interior. Provenance: South Germany, Biedermeier period, circa 1820.
