Important covered soup tureen and its stand in earthenware – Polychrome decoration – 19th century (in the style of Moustiers) Beautiful and elegant covered soup tureen with a contoured shape, resting on its matching stand, made of fine earthenware with a polychrome decoration known as "grotesque" in the style of Moustiers or southern France productions from the 18th century. The set features a delicately hand-painted decoration, composed of stylised figures, fantastic animals, insects, and leafy scrolls, arranged on mounds, in an airy composition typical of Bérain-inspired or "grotesque" decorations. The lid is topped with a decorative button-shaped handle, adorned with figurative scenes. The scalloped wing is highlighted with an elegant ochre-yellow line. Composition: 1 covered soup tureen. 1 matching stand. Period: Antique work, 19th century in the style of the 18th century. Condition: Good overall condition. To note: Signs of use and wear on the decoration. Some small stains and irregularities in the glazing. Signs of use on the reverse. Dimensions: 48 X 38 X h36. Observations: Very beautiful decorative set, typical of French earthenware productions inspired by the 18th century. Charming piece, sought after for an antique table or a collection display.
