Elegant set of two Louis XVI period side chairs in ivory lacquer and gilt wood, featuring refined hand-carved details and gold leaf accents. The chairs originate from a distinguished private residence in Florence and embody the timeless elegance of late 18th-century Italian Neoclassical design. They feature the classic Louis XVI silhouette with tapered fluted legs, an oval upholstered backrest, and finely carved acanthus leaf motifs connecting the seat and frame. Decorative rosettes and alternating lacquered and gilt elements highlight the craftsmanship of the period. The backs are fully upholstered, allowing the chairs to be displayed beautifully within a room. The seats and backs are upholstered in a luxurious multicolor velvet damask ikat fabric, blending warm neutral tones including blush pink, soft brown, and pale green. The recent upholstery is expertly executed, finished with elegant braid around the oval back and cord trim around the seat. Condition: excellent with stable structure, comfortable cushioning, and a beautiful original patina consistent with age and use.
