Antique French Gilded Mirror Baroque Style 19th Century 148cm

Large antique narrow gilded mirror from the 19th century, completely in classical baroque style, France circa 1870. The mirror still has its original mirror plate that is decoratively weathered and mocked, which is very desirable, the frame is decorated with acanthus leaves all around, mainly decorated very ornately at the top and bottom, unfortunately the mirror was once painted over with gold paint, which does damage the authenticity somewhat, under the paint is the original gold leaf. The back of the mirror is finished with planks, as was customary at that time. A nice extra is that the planks on the back are covered with antique French newspapers, which gives a look back at the spirit of the times, this also makes the mirror easier to date and determine its origin, there are dates such as 1792 and 1863 mentioned, and places such as Paris. This mirror is in good and very solid antique condition, with signs of age and use consistent with its age, but no missing pieces to the frame, it has unfortunately been painted over with gold paint, check the photos for more details!
