Antique baroque mirror in carved and gilded wood, 19th century

Very beautiful antique mirror in carved and gilded wood, from the late 18th or early 19th century, with baroque decoration in the rococo style. Its shaped silhouette, in the form of a cartouche, is adorned with large scrolls, foliage, small flowers, and a shell at the top. An astonishing carved mask finishes the lower part. The old gilding contrasts beautifully with the deep green painted backgrounds, which appear almost black depending on the light. Some shades of red are visible beneath the gilding. The old glass, not bevelled, shows a lovely pitting. The back retains its traditional wooden construction and its old fixings.
