Rare and elegant pair of chairs designed by Pierre Guariche, a major figure of French modernism from the 1950s to 1960s. These models perfectly illustrate his approach: simple and taut lines, a search for comfort integrated into the form, and a great accuracy of proportions. The chairs feature a padded shell with an enveloping design, subtly hollowed out at the centre of the seat, an emblematic detail of Guariche. The slight flex of the backrest, characteristic of these models, fully contributes to the comfort and ergonomics envisioned by the designer. The legs, made of black lacquered metal tubes, are slender and slightly inclined, providing great visual lightness and timeless elegance. The dark brown textile upholstery offers a beautiful patina of use, warm and uniform, perfectly consistent with the age of the pieces. An ideal pair around a dining table, in an office, or as extra seating, equally at home in a modernist or contemporary interior. Note: one of the backrests has slightly more pronounced flexibility, a common phenomenon in this model and without impact on use or sturdiness. Condition: very good vintage condition. Healthy structures, comfortable seats, authentic patina. Sold as a pair. Dimensions – Total height: 74 cm – Width: 53 cm – Depth: approx. 56 cm – Seat height: approx. 45 cm.
