This small marquetry chest of drawers, made from rosewood and mahogany, finely embodies the spirit of the Louis XV style. Its undulating front and sides give it a supple and graceful silhouette, while the butterfly veneer creates a warm symmetry that highlights the richness of the woods. At the centre, a delicate marquetry depicts a basket from which large flowers in light and stained wood emerge, adding a poetic and luminous touch to the whole. The two large drawers are adorned with bronze leaf-shaped handles, finely sculpted in scrolls, which emphasise the refinement of the piece. The intricately chased bronze keyhole, accompanied by its key, completes this decorative ensemble, and the lock is fully functional. The curved uprights and feet are enhanced with large bronze drops and finish with gilded sabot forming volutes. The whole is crowned with a superb violet Brocatelle marble, luminous and naturally veined. Its cut harmoniously follows the curves of the piece, and a delicate groove highlights its perimeter, adding a final touch of sophistication. This chest of drawers, both decorative and functional, offers timeless charm and remarkable craftsmanship. It will easily find its place in a classic or contemporary interior, where it will bring warmth, character, and distinction. Period: Early 20th century. Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop. Wax finish on a hard base.
