Elegant modernist desk published by Mobilor – CAB (Chantiers et Ateliers de Bourgogne), designed by Roger Charroy in the 1950s. It combines a tubular structure in black lacquered metal with a wooden top featuring laminated edges, typical of post-war furniture. The top has an asymmetrical free form, very characteristic of French modernism of the 50s. 👉 A leather covering was added later to the surface of the top. This leather is now worn, but there are areas on the edges where it has come away: the original laminated edge is visible and in very good condition, suggesting a pleasant surprise during any potential restoration — the possibility of rediscovering the original wooden top in its initial aesthetic. The desk features a side cabinet with two dovetail drawers and a top surface in darkened wood. A rare piece, representative of Mobilor's production in the 1950s, blending modernist design with the French industrial spirit. 📌 Technical details: Publisher: Mobilor – C.A.B. (Chantiers et Ateliers de Bourgogne), Tonnerre (Yonne) Designer: Roger Charroy. Period: 1950s. Materials: tubular metal, solid wood, plywood, laminated edge, applied leather.
