Ceramic Terrine or serving bowl by Poul Bækhøj, Denmark 1970s. Dimensions: Height: 21.5 cm, Width: 22.5 cm, Depth: 13 cm. Poul Bækhøj (1942-2017) was a Danish ceramist and sculptor who began his career in Aarhus as a ceramicist and graphic artist. His early works focused on ceramics with large, simple forms and refined ornamentation. During the late 1970s, his focus shifted towards sculpture, especially in granite, where he created works with both simple and complex forms. He worked from his studio in Glargårde north of Hadsund, where he created sculptures that expressed both respect and power. Bækhøj's works are represented in several museums, and he executed many public decorations.
