Set of 19th Century Italian Empire Flamed Walnut Sleigh Beds or Daybeds

These two exceptional Italian 19th century Empire period sleigh beds, dating back to 1790-1830, were sourced in Lucca, Tuscany. The beds, which can also serve as daybeds or settees, showcase sophisticated craftsmanship, a testament to high-quality cabinet making. Made from the finest Italian flamed walnut wood, the beauty of the beds is enhanced through expert book-matching, highlighting the wood's rich grains and veins visible on all sides. This design makes them an ideal centerpiece in any room, whether placed against a wall or freestanding. The aesthetic is inspired by the furniture ideals of ancient Greece and Rome, popularized during the Empire, Regency, and Federal periods. Unique features include an out-scrolled headboard and footboard ending in wide curls, forming a sleek and elegant design. These beds also boast an outstanding original patina and are supported by four tall bun feet with their original casters. They offer classical and timeless appeal, suitable for a bedroom, living room, study, or office. Each bed houses a mattress sized 80x200 cm (Italian single size) and can be dismantled into four components (headboards, footboard, and two rails). Since pairs of antique beds with this level of quality are rare, they are primarily sold as a set, though the sale of a single bed can be considered upon request.
