Female nude sculpture in terracotta signed Jean Portal.

Very beautiful ancient terracotta sculpture by Jean Portal, representing a female nude, early 20th century. This charming work captivates with the softness of its curves, the elegance of its proportions, and the delicate modelling of the female body. Its fragmentary composition, lacking a head or arms, gives it a particularly expressive sculptural dimension, evoking studio studies and classical sculptures. The terracotta features a magnificent natural patina with rosy and ochre hues, which beautifully highlights the volumes and bears witness to the passage of time. The sculpture is signed by Jean Portal at the end of one of the legs. There are a few small scratches, particularly on the back, as well as slight stains and signs of use, without detracting from the charm of this very beautiful piece. The original base is missing, but the sculpture can be displayed upright, receive a new base, or simply be laid horizontally, thus offering another perspective on its lines and volumes. An authentic decorative piece, full of character, ideal for an interior combining ancient art and contemporary decoration.
