Pair of wall sconces, 18th century

Very elegant pairs of 18th-century wall sconces, carved and gilded wood from the late Louis XV/Transitional period, dating from the second half of the 18th century (around 1760-1785). Hand-carved wood, original gold leaf gilding on a red ground, showing a beautiful old patina with natural wear consistent with age. Decorated with scrolls, rockwork, and stylised foliage, with a slender turned shaft. Old backs, unaltered, with traces of tools and period fixings. Height approximately 60 cm. Very good antique condition, without heavy restoration, authentic gilding not re-gilded. Sold without candles. Ideal for antique woodwork, high-end decorators. Can be converted into lamps.
