This decorative mirror, or "between two" as it is intended to be installed between two windows to increase the brightness in rooms in the 18th century, is in the style known as "Marie-Antoinette." This sovereign has lent her name by extension to the style that marked her reign, as she was the one who initiated the taste implemented by the cabinetmakers of the kingdom. It continues to be referred to as such even today, and the Palace of Versailles actually registered the name as a trademark several years ago. A fitting recognition for this style that American tourists adore. Ribboned pediment, frieze of imposts, heart rays, all the ornamental vocabulary in use can be found. Antique glass and carved wood make it an object of undeniable charm. For your boudoir, your country house, or to make your friends exclaim: But this is Versailles here!
