Circular glass bowl - hand-painted by Jean Simon Peynaud

Jean-Simon Peynaud (1869-1952), a glassmaker from Bordeaux whose works are now sought after by collectors of Art Nouveau glass. Shape: flattened circular bowl, known as "pebble" or "lenticular, " very characteristic of the years 1910-1925. Decoration: continuous panoramic decoration representing a lakeside or forest landscape with stylised pines, treated in polychrome enamels on amber yellow satin glass. Interior: clouded orange-red colouring, which creates a depth effect when light passes through the glass. Style: the influence of the École de Nancy is evident, particularly that of Émile Gallé, but Peynaud created more accessible works, often painted (as is the case with this bowl). Dimensions: Height: 7cm. Width: 22cm. Diameter at the neck: 12.5cm. Weight: 1315g. Circa: 1915-1925. This period corresponds to when the Peynaud workshop, located on Rue Héron in Bordeaux, produced numerous decorative pieces: vases, bowls, sweet jars, lamps, and bottles in opaline or frosted glass with decorations of landscapes, flowers, or rural scenes. Condition: The bowl, over a century old, is in very good condition overall, but we note a small chip at the neck (see photos). For this reason, I classify the item as "good condition."
