Large round vase in glazed stoneware, signed J. DERE circa 1960.

Its streamlined silhouette and subtly textured surface evoke the explorations of studio potters from the 1960s. The glaze, in a nuanced range of greys, transitions from light to dark with an almost mineral finish. The lower part is striped with fine horizontal lines, enhancing the tension between matte and depth of the material. A piece of very high aesthetic quality, perfectly balanced, that draws the eye with its simplicity and sculptural power.
